Dance musical destined for Ashton-under-Lyne

The hit musical 'Footloose' will be performed by an amateur company, consecutively over a five day period near Ashton-under-Lyne at the beginning of November.

It is the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager from Chicago, who relocates to a small town called Boment, with his mother, when they are abandoned by his father. Ren has problems adjusting to this new life, since dancing is banned there, and consequently finds himself in conflict with most townsfolk, notably the Reverend Shaw Moore, the instigator of the ban.

He refuses to accept this situation and challenges these arbitrary rules. The Reverend's own rebellious daughter Ariel, as well as his new found friends, including Willard assist him. Ren encourages the town to heal itself, confront its past, and once again learn the freedom that dancing can bring.

This is an energetic, upbeat show with high quality choreography, not to mention, stimulating characters. It also has chart hits including 'Let's Hear It For The Boy', 'Holding Out For A Hero' and 'Footloose'. This is a musical that celebrates youth, freedom of choice and the right to self-expression.

Tickets cost £21.68 inclusive of a transaction fee. Graphic design plays an important role in the production of a stage musical or theatrical event.

'Footloose' can be seen from Tuesday 4th November to Saturday 8th November at The George Lawton Hall, near Ashton-under-Lyne.
