Nooraldeen Ismail, Bader Ahmed and Bekim Takri are all enrolled on a course to teach English as a foreign language at Ashton’s Tameside College. The trio enjoyed recognition for their hard work in this field during the Looked After Children Awards that were held within the local area.
Nooraldeen and Bader were the winners of awards for Learning and Development and Progress and Learning respectively, while their classmate had an even better time at the ceremony – picking up an impressive four certificates in total.
Bekim claimed Learning and Development, Overcoming Adversity and Inspiration, Sports and Gold certificates on the day, with the Village Hotel Ashton serving as the venue for the ceremony. The awards recognise the efforts of youngsters who have grown up in foster care or children’s homes.
The students were nominated by Tameside College’s welfare and progress adviser Miriam Nicola and she told FE News:
“All three are fantastic students with 100% attendance and punctuality. They always get involved with college activities, are never negative and put all their efforts into college life.”
