Ashton-under-Lyne charity looks for help

A charity is searching for assistance from the local business community, and can offer some exposure back in return.

Ashton-under-Lyne’s Willow Wood, a hospice for adults, is trying to locate businesses that can provide fundraising support. Stationery printers are useful within the third sector, particularly when potential partners are being approached. Organisations of different sizes can nominate Willow Wood as their ‘Charity of the Year.’

Anthony Lord is in charge of marketing and income generation at Willow Wood, and is willing to promote businesses that back the hospice via social media. He told InYourArea:

“It's rare to find a household anywhere in Tameside or Glossop who doesn't know someone who has benefited from our care.”

Lord is flexible in relation to what supporting enterprises actually choose to do on behalf of his charity. He envisages that some companies may raise cash through dress-down days. However, he believes that morale can be raised if firms are imaginative enough to try diverse fundraising methods.

Another option for businesses is the use of Willow Wood collection cans. These can be left on reception desks or in staff rooms. Corporate social responsibility may be realised as a result of such moves.

The money raised for the hospice is likely to be spent on palliative care for patients. Willow Wood makes every effort to enhance the quality of life of people who have received the most serious diagnoses.
