A group of soldiers from the Irish Guards visited Tameside College so they could speak to those studying public services about what it is like to serve as a member of the armed forces. Three soldiers took part in the event, Colour Sgt Pintar, Sgt Naylor and Sgt Moloney, and they delivered a talk, took questions from the students and showed them how to use various pieces of equipment.
They also talked about some of the activities that they participate in as part of their work in the regiment, which include the likes of combat exercises, travelling the world, adventure sports and kayaking.
Among the questions that they answered were ones about what tests applicants need to pass to gain entry into the army. They also demonstrated how to use equipment that is part of their everyday lives. Colleges often promote events like this by using Posters from local Print shops.
Kathryn McDonald from the college told FE News that:
“It’s really good for the students to see exactly what they can expect from this type of career and to know what they need to do to get there.”
The regiment was founded back in 1900.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Posters
