Volunteers needed for Altrincham festival

With less than one week to go until the 2014 Altrincham Festival gets underway, organisers are calling for more volunteers to ensure the main parade of the event goes off with success.

Attracting thousands of visitors last year, the festival is set to be another great summer event for the town, with friends and families all arriving to have a fun day out. However, to ensure it goes as well as everyone hopes, a number of marshals are still needed for the Grand Parade next Thursday.

Lasting through the morning, the work of the marshals will be quite straightforward, with them required to ensure that all vehicles are escorted to the showground. In return for their efforts – which will last from 8.30 in the morning until 12 noon – every marshal will be given free hot food and drinks.

As well as the call for marshals, organisers are also interested to hear from any local businesses and charities that still want to have a stand at the show.

With room to put up their latest poster printing and banner printing efforts, firms taking part in the past have enjoyed considerable boosts to their local publicity.

There is also room for anyone interested in taking up a stand in the main craft marquee on the day. Hosting a wide range of attractions, there will be displays from birds of prey and marching bands to entertain the crowds.

The Grand Parade for this year's Altrincham Festival takes place on Thursday, 5th June.
