The retail outlet, which covers 60,000 square feet of real estate, trades as Rackhams department store but is utilised by Sports Direct who purchased House of Frasier in 2018 when it went into administration. The new plans submitted would transform the space into a combination of retail, residential properties and offices.
The proposal from long leasehold owners Lunar Altrincham Sarl outlines plans to construct three stores at lower ground and ground levels amounting to 22,700 square feet. The proposal also includes a large residential section which will consist of 62 flats located above and situated on the first floor in between 17,200 square feet of office space. Firms taking up new offices can employ reliable, local Stationery printers for their branded materials such as letterhead paper and Brochures.
Iain Minto, the director of Lunar Altrincham, stated:
“The remodelling of the department store is the final piece of our regeneration of Stamford Quarter. We believe that redeveloping this important area of the centre for a high-quality, mixed-use scheme will strike the right balance in Altrincham which, through continuing investment and strategic direction, has gone from strength to strength in recent years.”
