The competition saw Altrincham Video Society and other clubs from the North competing against ones from the South, ensuring that the society’s 15-minute comedy short ‘Imbuvable’ Feu faced stiff competition.
All films entered had to explore the competition theme of ‘If’, and Altrincham Video Society came up with a comic story centred on a downtrodden married man who discovers what his life would have been like had he not encountered his overbearing wife.
Chairman of the society, Eric Flowers, stated that the club had won a number of big film awards during its history, but that members were still delighted to receive further recognition for their efforts. Those involved will be able to use poster printing in Altrincham if they want to let people know about the award.
The script for the film was written by Chris Slater, who is also the vice-chairman of the society, and he told Messenger Newspapers that:
“I have never written a script before and initially found the project a little daunting, but the support and knowledge of everyone involved in the making of this film has really inspired me.”
Altrincham Video Society is based at the Timperley Community Association, which is located in Park Road, and was started back in 1967.
