Altrincham Little Theatre is poised to showcase five Japanese movies. This specific event is being held on February 1st to mark an international weekend of culture. In addition, Sweet Bean will be shown on February 23rd and Our Little Sister will be screened earlier in the month. Flyer printing can be used to promote cultural occasions of all types and can be effective in the entertainment and leisure sectors.
A senior lecturer at the University of Manchester, Jonathan Bunt, was involved in the selection of the films. Bunt is currently the Undergraduate Programme Director for Japanese Studies. John Grieve assisted in the organisation of the weekend. Grieve told Messenger Newspapers:
“The programme will give people the chance to see films they haven’t seen before. One of the most interesting will be After Life by Hirokazu Koreeda (Saturday). It asks which happy memory you’d like to take to eternity?”
Grieve is a fan of a film called Late Spring. Made in 1949, the movie was directed by Tokyo-born Yasujirō Ozu. This poignant drama focuses on the relationship between a father and his daughter.
John McKenna intends to display a collection of photographs with a Japanese theme. These monochrome pictures are going to be on show for a period of two days.
