Many Alty fans are likely to be heading to the Cresta Court Hotel today, with the former Southampton playmaker Matt Le Tissier coming to town.
The former England star, famous for his left foot, is still a much favoured football personality in his role as a pundit on the Sky Sports coverage. What many fans may not know, however, is that he is also a very popular speaker in the after dinner speech arena.
With many anecdotes and tales of footballing joy and agony though, it is exactly that role that sees him arrive here.
Poster printing for the dinner event at the hotel saw the tickets, each of which was priced at £40, sell relatively quickly.
The event is expected to be a great night with Le Tissier in attendance. Famous for only missing a single penalty throughout his entire career as a professional footballer, he is also much applauded for his ongoing commitment to Southampton FC.
'Le Tiss' is considered to have showed great loyalty. Known to have turned down advances from London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, he was also thought by many to even turn down Manchester United – one of the world’s most successful football teams – at one point.
Fans at the Altrincham dinner today may be hoping he sheds some light on his time as a footballer.
