Dickensian comedy to have Altrincham run
The comic play 'Bleak Expectations' is due to be given a series of performances in Altrincham, beginning in September.
It tells the story of Pip and his adventures with his sisters, Poppy and Pippa, together with his best friend Harry Biscuit. They endeavour to escape villain Mr Gently Benevolent and confront the Hardthrashers, all while trying to avoid disaster. Will love banish hate? Can virtue win out in the end?
'Bleak Expectations' is a humorous play that features notorious villains, absurd names, engaging romances, emotional deaths and even the possibility of happy endings. It was originally based on the successful award-winning series that ran on BBC Radio 4.
The play has been entertaining audiences since 2022, when it debuted in Newbury at The Watermill Theatre under the directorship of Caroline Leslie. It then transferred in 2023 to London's Criterion Theatre, where a selection of famous thespians and comedians took on various roles.
Written by Mark Evens, this amateur Garrick production is directed by Peter Brassington and should appeal to a broad audience.
Tickets range in price from £13.00 to £18.00. Brochure printing can greatly assist in the promotion of a stage or theatrical event like this one.
'Bleak Expectations' will run from Monday, 29 September to Saturday, 4 October at the Garrick Playhouse, Altrincham. The venue can be found on Barrington Rd.
