Adam Taylor developed a passion for the subject when he was a child, and spent much of this time outside learning the skills needed to be able to fend for himself. The workshops that will be held at Dunham Massey will see him try to pass that knowledge on.
He furthered his interest in nature by choosing to study horticulture at university, before securing a tree consultant job upon graduation. In the years since then, he has taken camping trips to a variety of locations, including as far afield as Nepal.
The workshops he will be running have been called ‘Into the Wild’ and will provide a fun, challenging environment for youngsters to learn survivalist skills. Subjects that will be covered over the course of the programme will include techniques for saving lives, tree identification, natural navigation, soft archery and fire lighting.
Speaking to Altrincham Today, Taylor stated that:
“Bushcraft is about wanting to work as a team and we’re trying to revive the old techniques that we used to use. There is no reason why we can’t revert back to that…in the future we may need to!”
