The planning committee of Trafford Council gave its consent to the initiative back in March. Councillor James Wright told the Sale & Altrincham Messenger:
“The scheme will bring more people into the town centre to live, which will add to both the daytime and night-time economy and ultimately benefit the overall economy of the town. It will certainly invigorate George Street, Regent Road and Lloyd Square.”
At present, the site accommodates a car park connected with Regent Road. The new car park will contain more spaces. When the building is completed, plenty of room will be reserved for the use of Trafford Council. While the regeneration takes place, alternative parking solutions are going to be necessary. Motorists may want to use spaces situated in a facility at Oakfield Road.
