What's Happening in Altrincham, England…

Building firm invests in Altrincham

Building company FK Group has completed its acquisition of Lawson House in Altrincham, which it will convert into its new headquarters.

Purchased at a cost of more than £1 million, the building was the former site of Standard Life.

It is a bold move by the firm. With a total floor space of 11,000 sq ft, it will provide a lot more room for its staff.

Talking about the deal, the MD of the firm, Francis Keenan, said:

"After more than 30 years of successful trading, we had outgrown our previous building in Levenshulme and needed a more efficient building with better amenities for our staff.”

The £1.1 million deal is only the start of the project though, with a significant amount of work needed to bring the office space up to standard for FK Group. A Manchester firm, AEW Architects, has also been instructed to work on the site.

As well as completing a full office refurbishment, a new staff kitchen and canteen will be constructed. There is also to be a new gym created for the staff.

The work will have to be completed in good time too, with the company wanting to move into its new offices by the end of the year.

In the meantime, the building firm will be making sure its stationery printing is up to date. With a new address to put on business cards and other literature, print companies in Altrincham will be busy over the coming months.

The firm presently has an annual turnover of £33 million, and employs around 40 members of staff.
