While detailed information about what awards the town is in the running for will not be made public until October when the ceremony takes place, Altrincham representatives have been told that it has won one of the prizes in the ‘large town’ section.
Furthermore, three of the business contenders from the area – The Wheatsheaf, The Old Roebuck and The Stamford Quarter – have been informed that they have also won an award each.
It represents excellent news for the town, including the volunteer group Altrincham in Bloom, which picked up two community involvement prizes and a Gold Award at the 2014 ceremony.
A coordinator for the group, Sarah Walmsley, told Altrincham Today that:
“We’re really pleased – when the town looks wonderful and beautiful it’s a real draw for the town, but apart from anything else it makes it a nicer place for all of us who live here.”
Local volunteer groups such as this one can use poster printing in Altrincham to help publicise the work that they do.
The Stamford Quarter work was carried out by the G-Force community group and a volunteer team, with G-Force also having contributed to the Old Roebuck entry. The Wheatsheaf produced a number of hanging flower baskets.
