Hits such as ‘It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way’, ‘Digging Your Scene’ and Celebrate (The Day After You) helped The Blow Monkeys gain a loyal following and enter the UK charts back in the 1980s. Renowned for their jazzy pop tracks featuring saxophone music and clever and incisive lyrics, the group were applauded by critics and audiences alike. Along with Dr Robert on vocals, the Blow Monkeys featured talented musicians such as Tony Kiley (drums), Neville Henry (saxophone) and Mick Anker (bass).

The band’s music developed towards the end of the 1980s. With an increased adoption of dance music and indie influences, their sound was once described as jazz punk.

The Blow Monkeys will now play The Bowdon Rooms at The Firs, in Bowdon, Altrincham on Friday, March 18 from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm. Tickets for the upcoming concert are £27.50 per person.
