The owner of the Lime bar and restaurant on Salford Quays and
West Didsbury’s George Charles gastropub, David Vanderhook, is the man behind these proposals.
He is hoping to launch his latest outlet within the building on Greenwood Street, across the road from Altrincham’s popular market. It would be a bar and restaurant aimed at families, with outside dining and small microbrewery included.
The plans also emphasise that any refurbishment of this building, part of the conservation area around the old marketplace, would be carried out sympathetically. It was originally constructed back in 1887 and is one of Altrincham’s landmark buildings.
“The proposed reuse of the building retains the essence of the building’s original use as a social space, but is updated to meet present and future demand for family friendly bar restaurant spaces,”
the planning document states.
The main hall would be turned into the central space for dining, while a coffee lounge and bar would be featured at ground floor level. The upstairs area would become a function and dining room.
