The Altrincham Community Team (ACT) claimed the prestigious Gold Award within the category for large towns and added further honours for Best Town Centre Community Planter and Best Community Effort in the North West, at this year’s North West In Bloom ceremony on the 24th of October.
Furthermore, this was not the only success claimed by a group from the town at the ceremony, as Our Altrincham, which is dedicated to the regeneration of the local environment, received funding for its planned Guerrilla Gardens project, located at Oakfield Road.
Community groups of this kind frequently rely on services like the flyer printing of Altrincham Print shops to help engage local people with what they are doing, and these awards should further help with that.
One of ACT’s campaign coordinators, Sarah Walmsley, told Messenger Newspapers that:
“We aim to continue developing and improving sites around the town in the years to come and are therefore appealing for volunteers and business support.”
ACT took charge of the campaign for the In Bloom awards from Trafford Council back in April, with the aim of increasing local community involvement in efforts to regenerate the green spaces in Altrincham.
