Altrincham celebrates career of songwriter

'Beautiful: Carole King The Musical' is due to be performed by the Garrick Players in Altrincham, and run for one week at the end of June.

This tells the story of the hitmaker's emergence as a star. How an unknown Brooklyn songwriter by the name of Carole Klein, with a distinctive vocal sound, became the legendary Carole King. She then went on to produce a string of chart hits with Gerry Goffin, her husband, for many of the leading musical artists.

We learn about her collaboration with songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, not to mention her enormous success involving Tapestry, Carole became both a Grammy and Tony Award-winner by effectively delivering the soundtrack to the lives of a generation.

This is an opportunity to hear again such classic songs as 'You've Got a Friend', 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling', 'The Loco-Motion', 'Up on the Roof' and 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow'.

Based on the book by Douglas McGrath, the words and music are by Gerry Goffin & Carole King. It is directed by Joseph Meighan with musical direction by Mark Goggins.

Tickets range in price from £17.00 to £20.00. The role played by graphic design in the production of a stage show or theatrical event cannot be underestimated.

'Beautiful: Carole King The Musical' will run from Monday 23rd June to Sunday 29th June at Garrick Theatre, Altrincham.
