The Saskatchewan Festival of Words will be bringing back its spring LitCon event this year, featuring workshops with accomplished authors.
The one-day event will include workshops on a variety of topics relating to writing and publishing, with a goal of appealing to Moose Javians who are aspiring authors, as well as other interested students. Horror author Drew Nicks will lead a workshop on “Disquiet and Unease”, including the history of the horror genre and how to write it. Toina Laird, a video game writer and designer who has worked on the Dragon Age series as well as independent projects, will follow with a workshop on writing for games and branching storylines.
The two author appearances will be followed by the first-ever Writing Salon, providing a space for attendees to write and brainstorm with each other. LitCon will also include an online presentation by FriesenPress Publishing Consultant Marc Brick, focusing on marketing self-published Books. Self-publishing through Print services has become one of many avenues for authors to explore today when it comes to making their vision a reality, with seminars like this providing key guidance.
