The Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors have announced their 2023-24 schedule, with the junior hockey team kicking off their season this September.
The team, named after Moose Jaw’s main Western Hockey League (WHL) squad, consists of rising stars looking to play in the major youth leagues. This year’s squad features 10 new players and 10 returning from last year. The AAA Warriors will play 44 games as part of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League, or SMAAAHL, regular season, starting with a two-game season against the Battleford Stars. The season will continue until February, with the top teams going on to the playoffs. Last year’s Warriors racked up a winning record, finishing 5th in the leagues and making it to the first round of the playoffs.
The AAA Warriors will also host four pre-season games to prepare for the campaign, with two each against division rivals the Regina Pat Canadians and Swift Current Legionnaires. Junior teams such as this can include future stars and often use tools such as poster printing and promotional give-aways to help connect with the local community. The team promotes itself as a chance to see hockey at a low ticket price, with season tickets and combo deals also available.
The Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors season will run from September 22 to February 25, with all home games taking place at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Pre-season games will take place from September 9 to 17.
