This April, Moose Jaw will host the annual general meeting of the Interior Designers of Saskatchewan (IDAS), as the organization looks to get a leg up on the latest fashions and trends in home décor.
The two-day conference will consist of organizational meetings along with seminars and discussions about topics in the interior design business. Such meetings are important in a fast-moving industry, as IDAS notes:
“Although aesthetics are important, Interior Design, as a profession, is much more than that. It is also about meeting the functional needs of clients, health and safety requirements, cost and schedule management, project planning and working effectively with a team often consisting of clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other consultants.”
To this end, seminars on offer include topics like ‘Speech Privacy and Sound Masking in Modern Architecture’ and ‘Affordance: What We Should Expect Out of Workplaces’. Networking is typically an important function of professional conferences, so IDAS attendees might be stopping by local Print shops for a fresh round of Business Cards. Non-members may attend panels, but must register in advance.
The IDAS general meeting will take place on April 12 and 13 at the Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa. The organization has roots going back to 1972 and claims over 100 active members. It acts as a regulatory authority as well as a promoter of the interior design profession within Saskatchewan.
