Shoppers at the Moose Jaw Safeway were recently treated to having someone in uniform bag their groceries for them – all in an effort to help out a national charity.
Several pilots and other members of the air force’s 15 Wing at CFB Moose Jaw came out to lend a helping hand, trying to raise money for True Patriot Love – an organization that helps military members and their families in times of need.
According to local media, one of the flight instructors related that the day went well.
The event was just part of the base’s drive to raise money for local nonprofits, such as the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, the Moose Jaw Humane Society, and other organizations. As employees of the Federal Government, they are involved in the Workplace Charitable Campaign, which sees thousands of federal employees doing their part to raise money for community service organizations.
An event like this can make a big difference in the community. It not only raises funds, but it also helps to make the public more aware of a not-for-profit group, in addition to giving them a chance to meet people from the local base.
