Moose Jaw Union Hospital recently welcomed its first baby of 2015. Little Danika Lin came into the world at 6:53am on New Year’s Day, weighing in at eight pounds, eight ounces.
Danika is the third child for her parents, Lila and Justin Lin. Lila remarked that she didn’t expect that her baby would be born on January 1st, as she didn’t expect her pregnancy to last as long as it did. It was difficult with her other two children, and her doctors felt that her child would have been born much sooner than she was.
The Chamber of Commerce, the Welcome Wagon, and the rest of the community greeted this new arrival with a collection of gifts such as diapers, teddy bears and other toys, a set of tools for her dad, and Gift Certificates for mom, so she can take a break and spend some time looking after herself.
The CEO of the Chamber of Commerce noted that he was pleased with how many local businesses wanted to take part and donated to the gift package.
Danika is also noteworthy in another way. Besides being the first baby of 2015, she is also the last new year baby to be born at the hospital, as the birthing unit will be moved to Moose Jaw’s new hospital.
