The Moose Jaw Kinsmen club will be hosting its annual Sports Celebrity Banquet, with pro sports players from multiple major leagues in attendance.
Headlining the show are NHL standouts Darcy Tucker, a 15-year veteran best known for his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the even more experienced Shayne Corson, who captained multiple NHL teams, as well as representing Canada internationally. The star-studded line-up also includes Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano and former NFL and CFL kicker Mike Vanderjagt, both Canadian natives.
TSN broadcaster Rod Black will host the dinner. Banquets like this, often advertised through tools like flyer printing and social media, typically see athletes giving speeches and having a chance to interact directly with fans.
The event is typically very popular, and this year’s is no exception, with tickets selling out quickly. It will include live and silent auctions of donated sports memorabilia and items provided by the local business community. There will also be community awards handed out, including the Kinsmen Sports Achievement Award and Country 100 Team of the Year Award. The money raised will go towards the Kinsmen’s charitable efforts within the community, which include operating the Sportsplex pool and athletic centre.
The Moose Jaw Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Banquet will take place on April 2 at the Heritage Inn ballroom.
