The Saskatchewan Rush will be bringing professional lacrosse action to Moose Jaw for the first time as it holds a special pre-season National Lacrosse League (NLL) game in November.
The match will see the Rush taking on their rivals, the Calgary Roughnecks. Action will take place under NLL’s unique indoor lacrosse rules, which creates a high-scoring game similar to ice hockey. The game will be the second and final game of the Rush’s preseason, following a bout in Oakville with the Toronto Rock, before regular season play begins in their regular home of Saskatoon. The Rush team will include some of the top lacrosse players in the world, including Robert Church, Christian Del Bianco and Ryan Keenan.
The Rush have become one of the NLL’s top teams, winning the championship in 2016 and 2018 shortly after their move from Edmonton to Saskatchewan. The Moose Jaw game will be sponsored by SaskTel and look to draw in lacrosse fans from across Southern Saskatchewan. Local sporting events like this are typically promoted through everything from flyer printing to TV ads, and can provide exposure to less well-known sports and leagues. Media coverage of the game will take place on TSN’s TV or digital platforms.
The Saskatchewan Rush will play the Roughnecks at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on November 25.
