A program is being offered at the Moose Jaw Public Library that is designed to help get more kids interested in reading and writing.
One of the parts of the project will be a “choose your own ending” competition, where the children will be encouraged to come up with and write their own ending to a story that has been provided to them. They will be able to do this in their own time, and then submit the results to Tina Dolcetti, who is the children’s librarian.
The program runs through the month of February, and at the end of the contest, each child who made a submission will be awarded a prize. They will also be entered to win a larger prize package of craft supplies, games, puzzles and, of course, Books, all of which have been chosen to fit in with the overall ‘adventure’ theme. In April, selected story endings will be posted throughout the library for patrons to read.
Last year, the program had 40 participants, and Dolcetti hopes that this year there will be even more kids who want to improve their reading and writing skills.
A flyer printing company will be able to create promotional materials for a program such as this. Materials can be made very eye catching, which can help to encourage more children to take part.
