An upcoming concert in Moose Jaw, called Music Row at the Mae, will feature a quartet of musicians both performing their songs and giving a look inside the song writing process.
The four songwriters will all be from the Nashville music scene, which is often seen as the centre of country music, as well as being a hotbed for other genres. Minnesota-born songwriter Emily Shackelton, who has written songs for country stars like Reba McEntire and television series such as Nashville, will perform her own material, as well as describing the writing process.
Award-winning Canadian country singer Victoria Banks, who has also written for a variety of musicians, will also perform. Rounding out the bill are singer-songwriters Phil Barton and Jeff Cohen.
Music Row will feature a mixture of performances and conversations designed to give attendees a glimpse into what goes into a hit song. The show is presented by River Street Promotions, the organizational company that previously put on the Homestand series of outdoor shows in August this year.
River Street donates a portion of proceeds from all their shows to mental health and education organizations in southern Saskatchewan. Concerts like this, typically advertised through flyer printing and local radio promotion, can provide a glimpse into musicians’ personalities, as well as a live experience of their work.
Music Row at the Mae is set to take place at the Mae Wilson Theatre inside the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre on January 28.
