The 80s Club tour will be stopping in Moose Jaw, bringing together some of the top hitmakers of the 1980s from Canada and internationally.
Headlining the tour is English new wave band A Flock of Seagulls. The group became an international hit with songs like “I Ran (So Far Away)” and the members’ distinctive haircuts. Also performing will be the internationally known Canadian synth-pop song Men Without Hats, whose lead singer Ivan Doroschuk was recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Rounding out the line-up are multi-platinum rock ban Honeymoon Suite, whose songs like “New Girl Now” are still heard on the radio, and influential Canadian new wave group Spoons.
All four bands will be performing their hits, with attendees encouraged to sing and dance (including doing the “Safety Dance”) along, as well as trying out their best retro fashion. This concert is part of the nationwide 80s Club tour, following a handful of successful shows earlier in the year, with Moose Jaw being the only scheduled stop in the Prairies. Retro-inspired tours like this often see groups from similar eras and genres teaming up to attract old-school fans, using promotional methods like poster printing and radio advertising.
The 80s Club concert will take place at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on the evening of November 16.
