The Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce will hold a special awards ceremony this February, recognizing the Citizen and Group of the Year.
The two awards recognize contributions to Moose Jaw’s social and economic quality of life made by private citizens and works. Nominees will be recognized at a cocktail reception at the Moose Jaw Events Centre Founder’s Lounge. The awards themselves will be announced and presented during the first intermission of the hockey game between the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Wenatchee Wild.
Nominations for the awards are gathered through public submissions for work done within the 2024 calendar year, and selected through an anonymous jury. There are several guidelines given, such as focusing on any volunteering activities rather than work completed in an employee capacity; the number of volunteer hours undertaken; any circumstances that have been overcome; any fundraising completed; any references or testimonials for the nominated individual; and more.
Last year’s group nominees included the World Para Ice Hockey Championship Organizing Committee, Journey to Hope Moose Jaw, and Moose Jaw Diversified Services. Awards like this often use Print shops or trophy makers to help make certificates or plaques to recognize winners and nominees.
The 2024 Moose Jaw Citizen and Group of the Year awards will be presented on February 4, 2025 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
