For the second year running, Moose Jaw will be hosting an all-day celebration of local music and culture with Homestand22.
The day’s events will begin with a live screening of the traditional Canadian Football League rivalry game between the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, also known as the Banjo Bowl. The screening is a way for Moose Jaw fans to enjoy the Regina-set game on a big screen with a crowd.
Joint screenings of distant sporting events like this have become popular, often promoted by poster printing and social media. Following the game, four local musical artists will take to the stage to rock the ballpark.
The concert will be headlined by Canadian indie-rock musician Matt Mays, known for being the lead singer of bands like El Torpedo and The Guthries. There will also be performances by veteran Canadian rock group Chilliwack, Nice Horse and JJ Voss. The event is designed to be family-friendly. with the opportunity to set up lawn chairs and blankets close to the stage, and multiple food trucks around the park.
Homestand22 will be raising money for River Street Promotions, a charity which contributes to efforts to boost youth mental health in southern Saskatchewan, and the Ross Park beautification initiative.
Homestand22 will take place at the historic Ross Wells Ballpark on September 10.
