The Tunnels of Moose Jaw museum will be holding a special event this August aimed to showcase one of the city’s most unique features, dubbed “Bunker 24: Digging Deeper with Kevin Hicks”.
The event will feature British-born and Saskatchewan-based historian Kevin Hicks. Hicks is known for his interactive workshop and popular YouTube channel. The talk will take place in the underground Bunker 24 tour space, with Hicks guiding visitors through the space and telling stories of Moose Jaw’s history of World War II and his own experience in the British Special Forces.
The talk is part of the Tunnels of Moose Jaws’ 25th anniversary celebration, which will include events throughout the year. Based in Moose Jaw’s natural tunnels, the Tunnels of Moose Jaw attraction features different areas designed for historical education on different eras. The Bunker 24 area typically features a 1950s Cold War scenarios where visitors act as new recruits.
The experience is designed for guests 19 or older and will feature drinks from Moose Jaw’s own Luby Bower Distillery and charcuterie food from Gourmet on the Go. Historical events like this often use methods like brochure printing and visual presentation to help give attendees an educational take-away. The talk will be hosted on two occasions on back-to-back days.
Bunker 24: Digging Deeper with Kevin Hicks will take place on August 14 and 15 at the Tunnels of Moose Jaw.
