Some iconic names in rap history will be performing in Moose Jaw this April, as Ice Cube headlines the Straight into Canada tour.
“Cube” will be performing songs from throughout his decades-long career, including his time with the legendary rap group NWA. The tour’s name is based off the NWA’s breakthrough album Straight Outta Compton, also the name of a biopic Cube acted in.
The tour is in support of Ice Cube’s 10th solo album, “Everythang’s Corrupt”, which is his first in eight years. Co-headlining the tour will be Xzibit, a veteran DJ, producer and musician who has also worked as an actor and TV host. Rounding out the line-up is local talent in the form of performers Peter Jackson, known as “the hardest working rapper in Canada”, and DJ Kav, a Calgary-based club DJ.
This will be the second Straight Into Canada tour, after the first was a major commercial success, but it will be the first one to stop in Moose Jaw. It is the only Saskatchewan stop on the 11-night Canadian tour. Tours bringing together multiple well-established artists have become a popular attraction, often using familiar graphic design on Posters and other advertising calling back to the hits of decades past.
Straight Into Canada will stop at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on the evening of April 28.
