The Moose Jaw Health Foundation will be hosting a new fundraising event called “Health Care Rocks”, designed to use classic rock music to help raise money for local hospitals.
The Foundation has said it has wanted to hold such an event for a long time and is finally ready for the inaugural edition. The concept is that Health Care Rocks will be an annual fundraiser featuring a tribute act or performance for a different legendary rock band or artist each year.
The first event will feature veteran AC/DC cover band Hells Bells, which have taken their act around the world and will be performing in Moose Jaw for the first time. AC/DC memorabilia will also be available through fund-raising sales and auction at the event, and attendees are encouraged to wear vintage rock T-Shirts and other retro clothing.
The concert will also be MCed by local comedy duo Moose Jaw and Moose Jaw, known for its comedic guided tours of Saskatchewan cities. Concerts are among the common types of events used to raise money for a good cause, with poster printing and social media key tools to raise awareness. All money raised by Health Care Rocks will go towards the Health Foundation’s efforts to acquire critical-care equipment for Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
Health Care Rocks is scheduled to take place on March 18 at the Mae Wilson Theatre in the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre.
