The Co-op retail organization will be opening a new pharmacy in Moose Jaw next spring.
The new business will be an expanded form of the pharmacy offered within Co-op’s Moose Jaw grocery stores. With 5,100 square feet of space, the new full-service pharmacy will go beyond supplying pharmaceuticals and will also offer counseling, active health programs, and an injection room.
The size of the building and the local customization of Co-op stores will allow it to stock products not available at most pharmacies. It will be part of a complex created by the Hillcrest Medical Group, located next to the Hillcrest Health Medical Centre, which opened in early 2019. This building is also set to include an audiology centre, with other businesses and organizations set to be announced at a later date.
The Co-op organization, which operates grocery stores, home centres, liquor stores, pharmacies and other businesses throughout Western Canada, is so called because it offers co-operative ownership. Members can buy a share of their local Co-op and make decisions using a democratic process.
This allows Co-op stores to customize their range of products and services according to local needs. While co-operative businesses of this type exist around the world, the Co-op chain of Western Canada uses a red pentagon as its Logo Design to set it apart. The type of symbol which stands out on Signs and in flyer printing.
