Business Women of Moose Jaw to promote mental health

A Moose Jaw organization focusing on helping female entrepreneurs is using its January meeting to highlight another important issue – that of mental health.

Business Women of Moose Jaw (BWMJ) will be featuring a talk from guest speaker Donna Bowyer. Bowyer has worked for the Canadian Mental Health Association for over 30 years and currently serves as its Provincial Director for Training and Education. Her talk will focus on how to maintain and improve mental health within the workplace, which can be a challenge for both employees and leaders alike, particularly in the dark of winter. Attendees will be welcome to participate in a “frank discussion” about their own experiences with mental health.

The BWMJ is a group of professional women whose goal is to assist each other and develop female entrepreneurship within the city. They hold monthly meetings and maintain an active referral network. Organizations and events like this can help provide crucial networking, with Business Cards and promotional Pens often changing hands, as well as providing skill and personal development through seminars such as Bowyer’s. The organization also presents the annual PRISM awards honouring outstanding women within the community.

The upcoming event on mental health will take place at lunchtime on Wednesday, January 29 at a location in downtown Moose Jaw. The exact venue is yet to be announced, so those interested may want to keep track of the event via its Facebook page.
