Recently, students from city of Moose Jaw joined others from all across the country to show their support for a cause that touches just about everyone.
“Day of Pink” brings students and speakers together to talk about bullying and online safety, but it was not only kids who got involved; as one of the major sponsors of the event across the country, 20,000 RBC employees wore pink to show their support.
In Moose Jaw, 400 students from William Grayson School, St. Mary’s School, Sacred Heart Community School, Rouleau School, Sunnindale School and St Agnes School came together in the Yara Center.
They saw presentations and got to participate in a question and answer session with guest speaker Travis Price. He began the “pink shirt movement” several years ago when he was in in school himself. He wanted to show support for a fellow student who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school.
An event such as this can really help to make people, young and old, more aware of the issue. It’s hoped that the kids who participated will go home and talk to their parents about what they have learned.
