Windsor walk to raise funds and awareness

Windsor residents have been asked to lace up their winter boots to take part in an event that will help bring everyone in from the cold.

The city will be taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, which is a charity walk designed to raise both funding and awareness when it comes to combating homelessness. The participants will be helping to fund housing and feeding projects, as well as other programming, and it will depart from The Downtown Mission.

The fundraiser, which is one of many being hosted in communities across Canada, will see individuals, as well as families, teams of coworkers and friends, check in and listen to some opening remarks before the walk begins. There will be signage posted along the route, and rest stops will be set up as well. Trained and approved service animals are welcome, but pets must be left at home. A light meal will be provided at the end of the activity.

Raising awareness is often an important goal of a not-for-profit event. A banner printing company can help by preparing signage and other materials that provide information about a cause.

Downtown Mission Windsor, located at 875 Ouellette Avenue, will be benefiting from this walking fundraiser, which will be on offer on February 22nd. Its registration page on the official Coldest Night of the Year website provides more details.
