Windsor to old annual Summerfest

Residents of Windsor will have a chance to enjoy the weather in June as they celebrate the city’s annual Summerfest with a host of events.

The festival opens on June 14th with a midway at Caesar’s Windsor location. There will be rides, games of chance and stalls providing fun for the whole family.

A vendor’s showcase will run from June 16th until July 1st, and will provide local businesses with a chance to exhibit their wares and services. June 16th will be a special day for lovers of music, as the festival’s gospel show will take place.

History buffs will get the chance to revel in the displays and re-enactments of famous land and water battles form the war of 1812 from June 22nd until June 23rd. There will also be demonstrations of first nations dancing, tours of Appledore IV and other war-related activities.

On June 23rd, the 36th international tugboat race will take place; it is expected to be popular for both participants and spectators.

The highlight of the festival it set to be the 55th annual Target fireworks show over the Detroit river. For those who want to have the ultimate view of the display, Windsor Parade Company will be hosting a special fireworks party at Plaza Udine. This takes place on June 25th. Tickets for the night are $100 each and are being produced by a local Print company.

The grand finale for the event will be the Canada day celebration parade, which will wind its way along Wyandotte Street East towards Glengarry Avenue.
