The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County supports individuals and families going through a tough time, and it has planned an activity that will help those who are newly on their own make the adjustment.
The organization will be offering its “Beyond the Plate: Learning to Cook for One” initiative, and it will combine learning new culinary skills with a more traditional style grief support group. It is aimed at anyone who experienced a death in the past year, and it will be an in-person activity.
These weekly one-and-a-half-hour sessions will offer the participants a gentle introduction to being on their own, and they will prepare food, talk and support one another. Meal planning and shopping will also be on the agenda, and the goal is to teach healthy ways of grieving. Anyone who is interested is asked to register for all four workshops in the series, and there is no cost to get involved.
Offering those who have suffered a loss an opportunity to participate in support groups is one of the ways an organization can support its community. Materials for such an event can be ordered from a brochure printing company in the local area.
The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County will be running this activity for those who have recently endured the loss of a loved one starting on September 9th. It will be held at 6038 Empress Street.
