Canada Day is a time for celebrating what makes this country great, and this year, Windsor marked the day with fun and festivities. One of the most popular events was the annual Canada Day parade.
Between 50,000 and 60,000 spectators turned out to watch the 65 floats go by, and there were also bagpipers, antique cars, and fire engines on display. The mayor even made an appearance in a red Ford Mustang convertible. Clowns were on hand to entertain the kids, and many people in the crowd were decked out in red and white. Most attendees were proudly waving Canadian flags.
Many of those walking in the parade carried bright and colorful Banners that had been custom made for the event with the help of Print companies. It was a chance to show how much they love their country and also to come together as a community.
The procession wound its way along Wyandotte street form Walkerton to the downtown area, and was greeted by cheering and waving crowds. The music being played on some of the floats was infectious and soon had everyone dancing.
After the parade had passed by for another year, spectators rushed to the Riverfront Plaza where there were free cupcakes and buskers entertained the crowds with music, comedy skits, and juggling acts. As the day drew to a close, the Symphony of Sound and Light provided an exciting conclusion to the festivities with a musical performance and an exciting 50ft visual display.
