Olde Sandwich Towne to delve into its history

The Olde Sandwich Towne Festival will take place along the shores of the Detroit River from September 7 - 9. It is a presentation of the Olde Sandwich Towne Business Improvement Association.

This popular festival celebrates the part that Sandwich played in the historical events of the area and, with this year marking the 100th anniversary of the War of 1812, the event should draw more visitors than usual.

There are many activities in which to take part during the festival, including a parade through downtown, historical re-enactments, a medieval village, a car show, musical entertainment, street performers, and children's activities such as pony rides. The parade will feature marchers, participants dressed in historically-accurate costumes, and historical figures. Restaurants and bars in the Sandwich area will have extended patios set up. Many of the most historic buildings, such as the jail and a house where General Brock stayed during the War of 1812, will have open houses during the festival.

It is likely that the organizers of the event have been working with Windsor printing companies to prepare for this annual event. Participating restaurants and public building will want to announce they are taking part in the festival, perhaps by posting Banners or Signs. Local stores could also take advantage of the festival by holding a special three-day sale or by giving away samples. They can arrange for flyer printing services to let the public know about their participation and by offering a coupon on that flyer that will get them a bigger discount if they bring it in.
