Musical fundraiser to be held in Windsor

Windsor musicians Jeff Burrows and Jody Raffoul have teamed up with a number of other recording artists to help a worthy cause that contributes greatly to the overall health of people in the area.

The group has come together to produce an album of Christmas music to raise funds for St. Clair College’s Applied Health Sciences Center. Two live performances will also be staged this month.

The first concert will be on December 20 in Windsor’s Chrysler Theater, with the second taking place in Chatham’s Capitol Theater two days later. Both will feature a mixture of traditional holiday favorites, along with some more contemporary numbers, one of which will be a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.

This annual fundraising effort takes a lot of work, with the initial stages of the project beginning in January and February. The final recording will be made and mixed in July.

The money raised will go to help purchase equipment and other necessities for the Applied Health Sciences Center, which is Ontario’s largest training facility for paramedics, pharmacy technicians, nurses, firefighters, and medical laboratory personnel.

Print companies are often called upon to help with this sort of fundraiser by printing tickets, as well as covers and labels for CDs.

Last year, the event raised more than $20,000, and tickets are expected to sell very quickly again this time. Those seeking further information about the concert, as well as people hoping to listen to a sample of the music or purchase a CD, are invited to visit the project’s official website.
