Windsor residents were recently given a chance to come out and purchase their favorite classics on vinyl, as well as some new releases.
Local record store owner Liam O’Donnell was one of hundreds of record stores around the world that celebrated the 7th annual Record Store Day.
On this day, hundreds of different limited releases – many of them on vinyl – were made available in record stores.
This, combined with an opportunity to buy one of their favorite ‘classic’ records, drew hundreds of people into O’Donnell’s store, Dr. Disc Records.
While he usually offers extended hours on Record Store Day, he found he had to open even earlier than expected when he got to work – and came upon dozens of people lined up to get in.
He noted that while many older people want to hear their favorite music the way they remember hearing it the first time, records are also becoming increasingly popular with younger people as well.
O’Donnell said they tend to be drawn to the album artwork, as well as their rich, warm sound.
News of an event like this is often spread via word of mouth and online advertising. Flyer printing companies can help by creating printed advertisements like the ones that would have been used when the records were first sold many years ago.
