Part of owning and running business is keeping abreast of any changes to the laws that govern employees. The province’s Ministry of Labour wants to make sure that all employers know their rights and responsibilities, and it is hosting a Whitby workshop that will provide the details.
The agenda for the session has been developed so that it will offer plenty of information, and there will also be time built in to the schedule to accommodate a question and answer session. There is no fee to register, and those who are interested are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of the set start time.
The attendees will be led through a guided discussion of the difference between an independent contractor and an employee, wages, vacation pay, hours of work, reprisal, tips and gratuities, and many other subjects. There will also be review of the employment standards poster, and the facilitator for all of this will be Paul Cannis, who is an Employment Standards Officer.
The goal of this event is for the participants to leave with better knowledge and understanding of the province’s labour laws and standards. Keeping employees informed about these changes and how they affect them can be very important, and materials form a poster printing company can help.
