The Whitby Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting its 2026 class this month, recognizing a group of athletes and contributors with a gala dinner.
This year’s individual inductees include Del Rints, who was a longtime director of the Gloria Rints Memorial Silver Stick Hockey Tournament, and Eric Perroni, who was a seven-time champion in youth lacrosse. Also going into the hall will be Anderson CVI’s AAA boys volleyball team from 2001, which won the provincial championships for the Whitby school.
The induction ceremony will be a gala dinner hosted by sports announcer Rob Snoek, who is also a Paralympian and Clarington Sports Hall of Famer. The evening will include a keynote speaker and personal tributes to the inductees through speeches and videos, followed by their official enshrinement. This will be the 28th annual induction gala.
The evening will also include live and silent auctions, along with a raffle with items from local businesses and organizations. Funds raised through these contests will go towards maintaining the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame organization in continuing to preserve and promote the town’s sports history. Local halls like this often use engraving and banner printing to permanently represent past heroes.
The 2026 Whitby Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on the evening of April 25 at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club.
