Comic culture gathers in Whitby

A pop-culture convention will bring comics, collectibles and fan communities together in Whitby.

Whitby ComiCon is scheduled as a one-day indoor event that brings together vendors, artists, authors and visitors around shared interests in comics, toys, games, movies and related media. The event positions itself as a local meeting point for collectors, casual fans and families curious about comic culture and its many offshoots.

Vendors are expected to offer a wide range of merchandise, including comic books, sports cards, anime items, jewellery, records and prints. Besides retail tables, the convention will include independent artists and authors presenting their own work. Attendees will be able to browse original art, books and self-published comics, with opportunities for brief conversations and informal signings at select booths.

Cosplay is encouraged, adding a visual layer to the event as visitors arrive dressed as characters from comics, film, television or games. Organizers note that participation is subject to safety guidelines.

Alongside commerce and costuming, the convention includes a food-bank donation initiative. Visitors who bring non-perishable food items can contribute to local community support efforts, with a comic book offered in return for qualifying donations.

Flyer printing can help community events like this one share schedules, vendor maps and entry details.

Whitby ComiCon will take place at the Heydenshore Pavilion, 589 Water Street, Whitby, on February 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
