Views of cosmos land in Newmarket

The Newmarket community has a strong appreciation for the outdoors with several dedicated green spaces, but this summer, there is an opportunity to see the world from a whole new perspective.

Astronomy in Action is a travelling educational show visiting communities across Ontario to show the night sky from a new perspective with their 4K planetarium experience.

Featuring the largest portable planetarium in North America, Astronomy in Action is landing in Newmarket this summer to showcase the night sky in a whole new way, with 4K projections of views from throughout the cosmos. Visitors will have a number of show options on offer, including The Wanderers, which enables the viewer to journey around the solar system and graze on some of the new findings of the universe and how this new information has changed us interpreting outer space. The Great Cosmic Journey will allow the viewer to travel virtually through the cosmos, dance through Saturn's rings and observe a new star being formed. “What is in the Sky?" aims at a younger audience and investigates what we can see in the sky both day and night.

Events such as Astronomy in Action are designed to educate and inform. There can be a lot to take in, which is why hosts will sometimes use flyer printing to list useful resources for those who want to continue learning afterwards.

Astronomy in Action will visit Newmarket on July 26, 2025. It will be at New Hope Methodist Church, 337 Queen St, Newmarket. More information on showtimes and ticket purchases can be found on the Astronomy in Action website.
