Newmarket event to make splash

The Splash of Culture event will be returning to Newmarket this summer, looking to showcase local culture by the riverside.

The event will transform the Newmarket Water Feature into a lit-up stage with a baby grand piano. The evening will see a trio of performers, including rising star Isabella Tomaso, Toronto-based pianist Julian Troiano and his string quartet, and area jazz vocalist Laurel Tubman. Tubman will be accompanied by a keyboardist, drummer and bassist, with advertising describing her as:

“One of Toronto's most versatile and up-and-coming vocalists. Her ability to interpret many musical styles has made her a highly sought-after talent in the city.”

The event area will also incorporate visual arts and elements of local culture. Food and beverage from Newmarket-area vendors will be available for purchase. Attendees can bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the concert in comfort.

The Splash of Culture event has become a fixture of Newmarket summers, with last year’s event drawing a crowd despite being postponed for rain delay. The chance to see music under the stars is a major selling point. Cultural events like this often use flyer printing and social media to help connect with the community.

The 2026 edition of Splash of Culture is scheduled for the evening of August 27 at the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons. Admission will be free for all.
