Canada’s largest school board is embarking on a new initiative to attract the best talent: a full-fledged job fair to be held this month.
The first-ever Toronto District School Board Employment Opportunity Fair looks to give jobseekers in the greater Toronto area, including cities like Newmarket and Mississauga, a chance to get a sense of what jobs and other opportunities are available in the district.
Job openings include both teaching at the elementary and secondary level, and supporting roles including educational assistants, office staff, and lunchroom supervisors. The district stresses its commitment to values such as accessibility and diversity, welcoming all qualified candidates to apply.
TDSB has described those who work in the district as:
“…joining a talented community of educators and support staff dedicated to enriching the lives of all students and helping them to achieve success.”
Applicants will want to go through the typical job fair preparation – dressing well, perhaps stopping by Print shops for another round of resume and business card printing, and researching potential jobs and their requirements. As always, both formal and informal networking is essential.
The fair will take place at the Montecassino Hotel on Chesswood Drive in North York on January 26. Visitors from further afield are advised to book reservations and the Montecassino Hotel, which will be available at a preferred rate.
