Newmarket and Richmond Hill residents who are between the ages of 30 to 74 are invited to take part in a health study that is one of the longest to ever have been conducted in the country.
The Ontario Health Study is being undertaken by the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, and it seeking data that can be useful to those investigating health issues like cancer, heart disease and diabetes. So far, 230,000 Ontarians have taken part.
This June, more participants will be asked to sign up. To do so, they will need to complete a questionnaire and give a small blood sample. These will be used to determine which factors can lead to a person having an increased risk for certain diseases.
Those who may be interested in getting involved are asked to report to the Newmarket study centre, which will be located in branch 426 of the Royal Canadian Legion at 707 Singley Street. It will be open on June 2nd from 11:00 am until 8:30 pm, and on June 3rd from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm. Once the data has been compiled and analyzed from research like this, Variable Data printing can be used to help send it out to everyone who has signed up to receive it.
